Hawk Central Article
Prater, a 5-foot-10, 170-pounder from Omaha Central High School said he grew up watching Iowa and Nebraska. He ultimately selected the Hawkeyes over Iowa State.
“It was a tough choice to make because at Iowa State, I have a close friend there, (quarterback) Phillip Bates, and I talk to him on the phone a lot,” Prater said. “But Iowa, their coaching staff, their record against Iowa State in football and basketball games and wrestling matches and their schedule and all that, that pretty much drew me in.'
“I kept on bringing up the good factors for Iowa and the good factors for Iowa State and I tried to balance them out because Iowa State has a new coaching staff and all that and Iowa won the match-up last year.”
